Buyer's Guide

Where to Buy Memorial Cards in Ireland

There are four common ways Irish families order memorial cards. Here is what each one is like, what to ask before you commit, and roughly what you should expect to pay.

Your options

Four ways families order

None of these is wrong — they simply suit different families and different amounts of time.

  • Through your funeral director

The simplest route in the days around a funeral. The director passes your photograph and wording to a printer they work with. Convenient, but you usually see fewer designs and have less say over the layout.

  • Direct from a memorial card printer

You deal with the people who design and print the cards, so you can talk through photographs, wording and verses, and see a proof before anything is printed. This is what we do here in Gorey.

  • A general online print service

Cheap per card, but the design is usually left entirely to you, envelopes and laminate are often extra, and there is rarely anyone to ring if a photograph is too small or a date is wrong.

  • A local print or photo shop

Fine for a small run, though memorial work is specialised — card weight, laminate, folding and envelope sizes all matter if the card is going to last as a keepsake.

Eight questions to ask any memorial card printer

  • Is professional design included, or is there a separate setup or artwork fee?
  • Will you see a proof by email, and can you ask for changes before printing?
  • What weight is the card, and is it laminated? We use 350gsm board with a gloss or matte laminate.
  • Are envelopes included with the finished order?
  • Is VAT in the quoted price?
  • How long does printing take once you approve the proof, and what does delivery cost?
  • Can you order a small extra quantity later if more are needed?
  • Can you also get matching bookmarks, wallet cards or acknowledgement cards?

Common questions

Where can I buy memorial cards in Ireland?
Most families order either through their funeral director or directly from a memorial card printer. Ordering direct means you choose the photograph, wording and verse yourself and approve a proof before printing. We print in Gorey, Co. Wexford and post to every county in Ireland.
How much should memorial cards cost?
Our folding memorial cards start at €55 for 15 and are €168 for 100. Wallet cards start at €50, bookmarks at €75 and thank you cards at €45. Design by our team and VAT are included in every price, so the only extra is delivery — €7, or free over €150.
How quickly can I get memorial cards?
We print within 24 hours of you approving the proof, then post the same or next working day. Delivery anywhere in Ireland takes 2–3 business days once posted, or you can collect free from our Gorey shop Monday to Friday.
Can I order memorial cards long after the funeral?
Yes. Many orders are placed weeks or months later, often for a month's memory or a first anniversary. There is no time limit, and the design process is exactly the same.
Do I need to send anything in the post?
No. Email or WhatsApp us a photograph of your loved one and the wording you want. If you only have a printed photograph, we can scan it for you in the shop.
