Step by step
How to Make a Memorial Card
You can build the card yourself in your browser, in about ten minutes, and our print team still checks everything before it goes near a printing press.
Seven steps
From photograph to finished card
Nothing is printed until you have seen and approved a proof.
Step 1
Choose a template
Open the designer and pick a folding memorial card or bookmark template. Each one is a real design our print team uses, so nothing needs to be laid out from scratch.
Step 2
Add the photograph
Upload a clear photograph of your loved one. A phone photo is usually fine; if the only picture you have is a printed one, we can scan it for you in the Gorey shop.
Step 3
Type the name, dates and age
Add the full name, the dates, the age and the address or parish if you would like it included. The designer keeps the type sized and spaced correctly as you write.
Step 4
Pick a verse or prayer
Choose from our verse collections — short, long, religious, non-religious, or verses for a mother, father or child — or paste in your own words.
Step 5
Choose the artwork or background
Use the template artwork, or quote one of our numbered photography themes (for example “Scenic 9”) and we will set that image behind your wording.
Step 6
Choose a quantity and order
Pick the quantity you need — most families order 100 — save the design and add it to the cart. Design and VAT are included in every price.
Step 7
Approve the proof, and we print
Our team checks your design, tidies anything that needs it, and emails a proof. Nothing is printed until you say you are happy.

Common questions
- Can I make a memorial card myself online?
- Yes. Our online designer lets you choose a template, add your photograph, name, dates and verse, and see the card as you build it. Our print team then checks the design and emails a proof before printing.
- Does using the designer cost extra?
- No. The price is the same whether you design the card yourself or leave it entirely with our team. Design and VAT are included in every quantity price.
- Should I print memorial cards at home instead?
- Home printers cannot match 350gsm board, a gloss or matte laminate, accurate folding or trimmed edges, and photographs usually print dull on ordinary paper. If the cards are meant to last as keepsakes, professional printing is worth it.
- What photograph works best on a memorial card?
- A clear, well-lit photograph where the face is reasonably large in the frame. We can retouch, brighten and remove a distracting background as part of the design service.
- How long does the whole process take?
- Once your artwork is approved — or you have chosen and bought one of our ready-made templates — we print and post within 2–3 business days.
