How Memorial Card Proofing Works
A memorial card cannot be reprinted after the fact without cost and delay, so we make sure you have seen and approved every detail first.
Three steps
From photograph to approval
We email you a proof
Once we have your photograph, wording and choice of verse, our designers lay out the full card and email you a proof to look over — exactly as it will print, photograph, text, border and all.
You ask for any changes
Check the spelling of names, the dates, and the wording carefully. If anything needs changing — a different photograph, a line moved, a word altered — just let us know and we will send a revised proof.
Nothing is printed until you approve
We only send your card to print once you confirm you are happy with the proof. From there, cards are printed and posted within 2–3 business days.
Why we proof every card
Names, dates and wording matter more on a memorial card than on almost anything else we print — it is a keepsake that will be read and kept for years. That is why we always send a proof by email before printing, rather than printing straight from an order form. It gives you a chance to check everything calmly, and to ask for any change, large or small.

- Do I get to see my memorial card before it is printed?
- Yes, always. We email a proof of the full design — photograph, wording, verse and border — and nothing goes to print until you approve it.
- How many rounds of changes are included?
- Reasonable revisions are included in the price. Most families need one or two rounds — a photograph swapped, a date corrected, wording adjusted — before everything looks right.
- How long does proofing take?
- We usually turn around a first proof within a day of receiving your photograph and wording. Once you approve it, cards are printed and posted within 2–3 business days.
- What should I check carefully on the proof?
- The spelling of names, the dates of birth and death, and the wording of the verse are the most important things to check. It is worth asking another family member to read it over as well, since it is easy to miss a small detail when you are close to it.
- Can I ask for a proof before ordering, or only after?
- A proof is created once you place an order with your photograph and details, so we can lay out the actual card rather than a generic example. You are not charged again for the proof stage itself — it is part of the price.
