RIP Memorial Cards – A Lasting Tribute To Your Loved One

Prayer Cards

Funeral Prayer Cards

Traditional Irish prayers, set carefully and proofed before printing — or plain wording, if that suits the family better.

Traditional wording

Prayers families ask for most

Any of these can be printed alone, together, or alongside a verse.

  • Eternal rest

“Eternal rest grant unto him/her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him/her.” Short, familiar, and used on more Irish memorial cards than any other line.

  • The Memorare

A longer prayer to Our Lady, often chosen for the inside panel of a folding card where there is more room, or printed in full on a bookmark.

  • Sacred Heart prayers

Devotional prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus sit naturally beside a Sacred Heart image, and are still asked for regularly, particularly by older family members.

  • Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam

The Irish blessing “may he/she be at the right hand of God”, printed on its own or alongside an English verse. We will set the fadas correctly and show you on the proof.

For religious verses beyond these prayers, see our religious memorial verses.

Choosing wording that suits the family

  • Tell us whether the family would like something religious, or would prefer plain wording without a prayer
  • A prayer can sit on the front under the photograph, or fill the inside panel of a folding card
  • The same prayer can be printed on a bookmark for a longer read, or a wallet card for something to carry
  • If a priest or the family has a particular prayer in mind, send us the exact wording and we will set it out
  • We proof every card before printing, so you can check the words carefully

Questions about prayer cards

What prayers are usually printed on Irish funeral prayer cards?
Eternal rest is the most common, along with the Memorare, Sacred Heart prayers, and the Irish blessing Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. Families also choose a verse instead of, or alongside, a prayer.
Do prayer cards have to be religious?
No. Plenty of families prefer plain, non-religious wording, or a verse with no reference to faith at all. Let us know your preference and we will set the card accordingly.
Can I choose my own prayer or wording?
Yes. Send us the exact text you would like, including any prayer a priest has suggested, and we will lay it out for you to approve on the proof before anything is printed.
Can a prayer be printed in Irish?
Yes, in Irish, English, or both. We take care to set fadas and spelling correctly and will show you the finished wording on the proof.
What does a funeral prayer card cost?
Folding cards are €55 for 15 and €168 for 100. Bookmarks, which suit a longer prayer, start from €75. Design and VAT are included in every price.
