What's different
A card for the year, not just the day
First anniversary cards carry their own wording and, often, their own tone.
Wording that names the year
First anniversary cards often carry a line such as "first anniversary" or "one year since you left us", alongside the usual name, photograph and dates. It marks that this card is for the anniversary rather than the funeral itself.
For families who didn't order at the time
Not every family orders a memorial card in the days after a death. A first anniversary is a natural point to order one, whether for an anniversary Mass or simply to mark the year and give to family and friends.
A quieter kind of card
Some families choose a softer photograph or a different verse for an anniversary card than they would have for the funeral — something that reflects a year of remembering rather than the immediate loss.
If you're ordering for the first time
Send us a photograph, the full name and dates of birth and death, and a verse if you have one chosen. We will design the card, send you a proof to check, and print and post within 2–3 business days once you approve it.

- What should a first anniversary card say?
- There is no fixed rule. Many include a line noting the first anniversary along with the name and dates, and a verse suited to remembrance rather than loss. We can show you examples of wording other families have used.
- Can I order a memorial card a year after the death?
- Yes, there is no time limit. We regularly print first anniversary cards for families who did not order at the funeral, as well as families reordering with new wording for the year.
- Do you need the original funeral card to make an anniversary card?
- No, though it helps. If you have an older card, send us a photograph of it and we can match the design closely. If not, we will design a new card from scratch using a photograph you provide.
- Can the card be used for an anniversary Mass as well?
- Yes. If the anniversary Mass has a set date, church and time, these can be added to the card. See our anniversary Mass cards page for more on that.
- How many cards do families usually order for a first anniversary?
- It varies — some order a small number for close family, others print enough for everyone attending an anniversary Mass. Folding cards start at €55 for 15 and €168 for 100, so either is straightforward.
