The first birthday after a death
The first birthday to fall after someone has died can be a hard day to mark. A small card for close family, with a gentle birthday-themed verse, is one way some families choose to remember it.
Milestone birthdays
A 21st, 40th, 60th or 80th birthday that someone did not live to see is often marked by family with a card, sometimes alongside a small gathering or a Mass. We can print for any milestone, in whatever number you need.
Wording suited to a birthday, not a funeral
A birthday remembrance card usually reads quite differently to a funeral memorial card — celebrating a life and a date, rather than marking a death. We can help you find wording that fits, or you can send us your own.
Getting the wording right
Send us a photograph, the date being marked, and any verse or wording you have in mind. If you are not sure what to write, tell us the occasion — first birthday, a particular milestone age — and we will suggest wording that suits, which you can change however you like before we print.

- Can a memorial card be made for a birthday rather than a death anniversary?
- Yes. Many families order a card to mark a loved one's birthday, with wording that speaks to celebrating their life on that date rather than the funeral itself.
- What wording is usual for a birthday remembrance card?
- Verses often mention the date, an age reached, or simply the idea of celebrating someone in their absence. We can show you examples, or you are welcome to write your own and we will set it out for you.
- Do you print for milestone birthdays specifically?
- Yes, a card marking a 21st, 40th, 60th or any other milestone birthday someone would have reached is something we print regularly. Just let us know the age and date and we will design accordingly.
- Should the photograph be different to the funeral card?
- Some families prefer the same photograph used at the funeral, others choose a different one that feels more suited to a birthday. Either is fine — send us what you have and we will work with it.
- How many cards do people usually order for a birthday remembrance?
- It depends on whether the card is for close family only or for a wider gathering. Folding cards are available from 15 upwards, so both small and larger orders are straightforward.
